WANGLER

Peter Wangler passed away on Monday, February 19, 2007, at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm. Aged 92 years. Born December 28, 1914 at Leeder, Saskatchewan, Peter was one of nine children.

As a young man he worked on numerous ranches in Southern Alberta and was a Saddle Bronc rider at the Calgary Stampede in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Peter and Shirley Gertrude Moon were married June 26, 1940 and lived in Calgary where sons Larry and Dennis were born. Work took the family firstly to Kimberley and then to a farm in the Comox Valley in 1947 where their daughters Beryl and Shelley were born. Peter worked for MacMillan Bloedel, Eve River Division, until retiring.

In the spring of 1979 they moved to Armstrong and in 1981 moved to the Yankee Flats/Falkland area where they have resided since. Peter lived for his horses and rode into his late 80s, enjoyed family and the outdoors. He will be lovingly remembered by wife Shirley; sons Larry (Eileen) of Courtenay and Dennis (Barb) of Falkland; daughters Beryl (Marvin) Stedal of Smithers and Shelley Wangler of Enderby; grandchildren Brian, Michelle, Dennis, Steven, Lisa, Glen and Allison; great-grandchildren Brittany, Andrew, Chelsea, Justine, Shyanne, Jenna, Rhyan, Camryn, and Alexander; sisters Tina Going and Rose Bredo both of Calgary; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by siblings Adam, John, Gabe, Kay Haigh, Julie Pomeroy and Anne Wangler.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Zion United Church, Armstrong, BC. Reverend Ted Roworth officiated.
