SAIK, Ralph
January 11, 1926 - November 26, 2010
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Ralph Saik. Loving husband to Joyce of 55 years, father, brother, uncle, friend and neighbour. He is survived by a loving family near and far.
Ralph had varied careers, in his humble beginnings he drove cab in Edmonton, AB and worked for the railroad at Burns Lake, BC. After managing a number of grocery stores including Loblaw's, Dominion and Co-Op, he went to work for the City of Edmonton Light and Power. His career with them lasted over 25 years until he retired. On weekends and evenings he waited tables part time and also worked for the Woodward's Food Floor.
Ralph had an adventurous spirit, was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and playing cards. He will be remembered as a social person, who was kind, fun-loving,, hardworking and generous. His willingness to help others will never be forgotten. We will remember that he was a blood donor for many years (over 50 donations), a volunteer driver in Sidney, BC and that he also donated his time to the Sidney, BC Museum. In Comox, BC, Ralph (in his eighties) took part in the estuary clean up and in Courtenay he volunteered at the Comox Valley Senior's Village convenience store.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to friends and family for their love and support. Sincere gratitude towards St. Joseph's Hospital in Comox ( Shelley and Kat in the E.R. and Connor on the 3rd Floor) for their professional care and compassion. Thanks to Eric from Toneff Funeral Services in Courtenay for his kindness, guidance and patience at this difficult time.
In accordance with Ralph's wishes there has been an intimate family gathering and no formal service.
Deep in our hearts his memory kept, to love, to cherish and never forget.
