The McCall family with a sad and heavy heart wishes to announce the passage of the family patriarch George McCall. George passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Friday May 1st 2009 of pneumonia due to complications while undergoing surgery at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria B.C. George developed Pneumonia after suffering a broken hip after a recent fall. George succumbed within 30 hours of the fall that caused his broken hip.

George was born in Kamloops BC and volunteered for the Canadian Forces at the age of 17. George served in the European Theatre during World War II and as an Instructor during the Korean Conflict. George had several careers during his 86 years of life including business owner, logging camp cook and commercial fisherman.

George is pre-deceased by his parents Wallace and Savina McCall, brothers Lewis and Norman McCall, nephew Edward McCall, niece Patricia McCall and grandson Jacob Flanders.

George is survived by his wife Florence Flanders-McCall, sister Shirley Dunsmore, daughters Darlene Flanders and Maureen McCall, sons: Louis Flanders and family, Charles McCall, Daryl and wife Tammy McCall and Richard and wife Christine McCall, and multiple grandchildren, great grand children and extended family.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday May 16th at 4 p.m. at the Courtenay Royal Canadian Legion Hall 367 Cliffe Ave. Courtenay BC.

In lieu of Flowers the family request donations be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or The Pythian Order Cerebral Palsy Fund.
