A devoted father and husband, Bob died suddenly on June 8, 2006. Left to mourn are June, his loving wife of 55 years;

daughter Sandra Murray (Bob); sons: Bob and Ken (Emily); grandsons and great-grandchildren.

A graduate of Victoria High School in Victoria, Bob joined the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1954 and the family was stationed in Winnipeg before being posted overseas to Germany. Upon return to Canada in 1963 Bob was posted to CFB Comox. Leaving the forces in 1965 Bob and famiy settled in Courtenay where he began his own tire business, Central Tire.

Bob will also be remembered by many as a dedicated and active member of the Courtenay Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance crew from 1969 to 1986. In retiring the tire business, he continued to serve the City of Courtenay as a Dispatcher/Guard for the R.C.M.P. until retirement in 1993. Always an avid outdoorsman, Bob shared his knowledge and love of camping and fishing with the family and especially enjoyed the yearly hunting trips with the boys. He will be forever remembered by the family as a loving, caring father and husband who had much to give, gave generously of himself, always tried his best and was always there for them. He will be truly missed by family and friends.

With respect for his wishes, there will be no service. The family will gather privately in remembrance at a later date at a special place. Flowers are graciously declined with thanks.
