Stamm, Robert Alexander

March 25, 1918 - May 4, 2003

Bob passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s General Hospital, Extended Care Unit in the presence of his loving family. He leaves behind to mourn him his wife and partner of 57 years Jean, daughters Alexa (Don) Hamilton of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Pat (Dave) Doleman, Julie Stamm, all of Comox. Also missing him will be grandchildren Keith (Tana), Kari, Scott, Keir, Drew and great grandchildren Nathan and Jordan.

Bob was raised on a farm near Glenavon, Saskatchewan. He joined the RCAF in 1941 and served his country as a Wireless Airgunner during the Second World War. Returning to Canada, he met Jean Kell and they were married in June of 1946. Stationed at bases throughout Canada, he retired from military life as a Warrant Officer at Comox in 1968. Bob worked for more than 12 years at the Courtenay Post Office before retiring permanently to pursue his hobbies of stained glass, gardening, woodworking and enjoying his family. In his earlier years Bob played fastball and always cheered for his beloved Cleveland Indians. He was a supportive fan for his girls’ sports and activities and a hardworking volunteer for the Comox Kiwanis Club and the St. George’s United Church.

Bob will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loyal family man. He was kind and thoughtful and always put the needs of others before his own. The family invites you to celebrate Bob’s life on May 8, 2003 at 2:00 pm at St. George’s United Church, Courtenay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Therapeutic Garden at St. Joseph’s General Hospital, ECU. The family wished to thank the many staff and volunteers of the Extended Care Unit for their kind, gentle and professional care during Bob’s stay.
