Robert Alfred Martin Captain Bob… Beloved Papa December 30th 1942- March 15, 2017

Loving Dad, Brother, Papa and Friend..You are missed beyond measure by your daughter Angelyne (Eric) your sons, Tom (Alison) and Jon (Amanda). Grandchildren Eamonn, Madelaine Rose, Joshua, Ben, Jac, Parker and Chase. Your sisters and brothers Elaine (Tus), Rick (Pat), Pat (Jim), John (Heather), Penny (Rick) and all of your nieces and nephews. Your dear friend Sue, and your pirate dog Rodeo. Predeceased by his wife Patti (2007), Bob was born in Calgary, Alberta to Frank and Florence Martin. He was schooled in Victoria BC at St Louis College. Dad opened his own State Farm Insurance Office in Nanaimo BC, followed by sales with his father in National Homes and finally to a 25 year adventure as a Commercial Fisherman. Captain Bob or (Mungo), had discovered his passion fishing the west coast of Vancouver Island bringing his daughter and sons as deckhands. He was an avid lover of the great outdoors.. fishin’ and huntin’. He loved bird dogs and trained many, though none as good as his beloved Boykin Spaniel field trial winner, Rodeo Red. Bob’s jokes were world renowned especially at his restaurant Patti Finn’s where he entertained guests as a very convincing Pirate. He loved making people laugh, taking them sport- fishing, hanging out in a duck blind, or trap shooting at the Courtenay Game Club. A special thanks to Eric and George Zanders, for looking out for Dad in this last year. A Celebration of Dad’s colourful life will be held at his sister Pat and Jim Walter’s home, Saturday April 29th at 2pm. 6820 Buckley Bay Frontage Rd, Buckley Bay, B.C.
