ALLEN

Robert James

It is with deep regret that we announce the sad passing of Robert James Allen (Bob) on Friday, July 10, 2009 in his 78th year. Bob is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Marlene (nee: Haise) of 57 years; his son Jim; daughters: Karen (Dale) Chamberlain and Kim Veitch; grandchildren: Chelsea Allen, Krista, Kari-Lyn and Kelli Chamberlain and Mitchell Veitch; brothers: Larry and Butch Allen and sister Betty Ann (Fred) May; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Bob was predeceased by his father and mother, Harold and Dorothy Allen and brothers: Dick, Ted and Pat Allen.

Bob had a very successful career of 31 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force and retired as a Warrant Officer to the Comox Valley. He then worked at the liquor store and was fondly known as "Buffalo Bob" by all his co-workers. He really enjoyed his many camping, hunting and fishing trips. His special joy was spending time with his family and many friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Nick and Eleanor Stolarchuk, Doug and Georgia McMillan, Ted and Barb Simpkins, Gerry and May Gallaher, Gary Folkart, Marcel and Tonia Gagne, Dave and Heather Magdanz, and Len and Yvonne Doust, who made his last few years enjoyable with their loving support and friendship in many ways.

In lieu of flowers donations to Voice for Hearing Impaired Children, BC Children's Hospital or the charity of your choice in memory of Bob would be greatly appreciated.

Celebration of Life and Poppy tribute will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17 lower lounge in Courtenay on Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m.
