1929 ~ 2004
Robert Evans died peacefully at home in Comox on March 8th, 2004, in his 75th year. Predeceased by his brother David; he is survived by his loving wife, Verna; children: Bill (Sue), Bob, Veronica (Greg), Tim (Karen), Debbie (Ray), Ron (Tavi), Yvonne (Bill); beloved grandchildren: Jennifer, Diana, Ryan, Stephanie, Alexi, Anna, Samantha, and Matt; his sister Grace (John); sister-in-law Estelle, extended family: Mart (Joan), Rob (Joan) and special friend, sister-in-law Emily; and nephews and nieces.
Born in 1929 in Montreal, Bob enlisted in the Armed Forces in 1950, serving in Korea with the Canadian Army and in Canada, France, Germany, and Africa with the RCAF. His final posting was to Comox, where he retired in 1975, enjoying a second career with the airline industry working for Island Air, Gulf Air and Air BC. Prior to his illness Bob was an active volunteer, sharing his time and talents with various organizations and individuals in the Comox Valley. His generous spirit touched many.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Organization of Rare Disorders, Box 814, Coaldale, AB T1M 1M9 or the Glacier View Lodge Society, 2450 Back Road, Courtenay, BC, V9N 9G8.
A family memorial will be held at a later date.
