ZOKOL - Robert

Sadly our family announces the passing of Robert Zokol. He was born in Slovenia, and as a young boy grew up in Vancouver. He served his country in WW11 in the RCAF. His career started at Buy Low Foods, opened several Shop Easy Stores, and owned his own successful business Rob Roy Meats. Then went on to be a Buyer/Manager for Stong's Markets till his retirement in 1989. He was an articulate, personable, caring person who loved interacting with people. He was very proud to be a member and past-president of Marine Drive Golf Club, where golf and bridge were his passions, as well as his love and dedication to his family. Bob is predeceased by his grandson Tyler Phillips (2000), brother Dr. Joseph Zokol (2005). Survived by his wife Iris, sons Ken, Neil, daughter Leslie (Larry) Phillips, grandchildren Ali, David Shandrell and Davis, brother Stan (Helen).
We would like to thank a devoted staff at Glacier View Lodge for the wonderful care that dad received in the last year of his life.
A Memorial will be held on Saturday, October 18 at 1:00 pm at Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to Glacier View Lodge Society, 2450 Back Road, Courtenay, BC V9N 9G8 would be greatly appreciated.
