June 27th, 1935 - May 1st, 2017

Ron was loved by many and well known in the Comox Valley as an avid golfer, bowler, hockey coach, baseball coach and umpire, basketball referee, and for his many jobs with the military, Bob’s towing, Courtenay Lumber, and before retirement as the “birdman” at the airport. He watched the NHL games and cheered for the Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators, but even more so he loved cheering for the Blue Jays.

Ron was predeceased by his wife Barbara (Dec 2011). Survived by loving sons Michael (Johanna) of Maple Ridge and Don Baker (Patty) of Campbell River, and cherished daughter Pam (Tom Kenkel) of Ottawa. Wonderful Papa to 3 grandchildren: Jennifer Carter of Courtenay, Tyler Carter (Hannah) and Ron Kenkel of Ottawa.

Special thanks to his wonderful homecare workers who took such good care of him. Also huge thanks to some of his special friends who made his last years so much easier: Debbie Griffey, who was like a daughter to him. Len Doyle. Larry Lott. Al Murray.

We love you Daddy, you’ll be missed.
