TELOSKY, Sam

With great sadness the family of Sam Telosky wish to announce his peaceful passing on October 12, 2010. His long and painful fight with cancer and broken neck are now over. Sam leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years Doreen; two sons Dan(Wendy) and Steve(Nicky); four grandchildren Marc, Kevin, Heather and Jill, all of whom he adored. Sam was born in Maple Ridge B.C. on March 13, 1915.

He left home at the early age of 15 and made logging his life from then on, starting in the Comox Valley and ranging as far as the Queen Charlotte Islands. Sam met Doreen while working in Zebellos. They were married in 1948 and soon after moved to Campbell River. The majority of his years in logging were spent as a “high rigger”. Sam was known and renowned as one of the last old time hand loggers and was respected by those who knew him. Besides logging, Sams other passions included gardening, fishing, and hunting. Sam and Doreen enjoyed several winters travelling down south.

His family invites his many friends to attend a celebration of his life, to be held at the Maritime Heritage Centre (located at the fishing pier) on October 23rd at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
