MORGAN, (Sgt) James Clark

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa and great grandpa - (Sgt) James Clark Morgan (Bud) on Thursday, January 28th, 2010. Bud fought a valiant battle with cancer.

Bud leaves behind his treasured daughter, Cindy May Wingert (nee Morgan), his daughter Connie Danniels (Peter) and grandson Travis, and his son Michael Morgan. He is also mourned by his many grandchildren who he loved so very much - James Wingert (Tillicum), Amanda Agnew (Jackson), Samantha Agnew (Steve), Melissa Agnew (Fadi), Sarah Agnew, Emma Agnew and Alexander Agnew. His precious great-grand daughter, Hannah Agnew, is also left to miss her great - grandpa.

Bud will be forever missed by his sisters Deanna (Mel), Sharon, and Doris (Ray) and dear friend & brother Bob Nutter. Bud leaves behind so very many dearly loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Bud was born on December 24, 1933, in Wistaria, BC to Jim and Connie Morgan. He grew up in the Ootsa Lake region of BC and was very proud of his heritage. In his early years, he was a surveyor, logger and trapper. He had a great respect and love for his natural surroundings.

Bud joined the armed forces at the age of 20 and was a radar technician for the air force. He married Hilda Stevenson Forbes in September 1956 in Ottawa, Ontario. Bud and Hilda were posted overseas and travelled to many countries, including Germany, Spain and France, where son Michael and daughter Connie were born. Bud and Hilda were stationed back in Canada when daughter Cindy was born in Trenton, Ontario in 1961. Various other postings included Yorkton, Saskatchewan; Gypsumville, Manitoba; North Bay, Ontario and Holberg, BC - the favourite base of the Morgan family.

Dad was an avid outdoorsman whose love of hunting and fishing was evident to all who met him. He was a sports fan also, who never let go of the dream of the Canucks winning the Cup. Dad was always active in outdoor activities - horseback riding; curling; street hockey; playing ice hockey on the frozen outdoor rink in North Bay and many games of football with the kids on Macintyre Street - but Dad also loved indoor sports, such as badminton; floor hockey (coaching the kids in Holberg); carpet bowling in later years.

Bud retired from the air force after 27 proud years of service. He moved to Union Bay, BC with wife Hilda and became a commercial fisherman. He started this new chapter of his life in his trawler - the Esquire.

Sadly, Bud and Hilda divorced in 1984. Dad continued to fish for many years and settled in Courtenay, BC. He became very active in the Reform party (now the Conservatives) and was a respected member who worked diligently as he strongly believed in the party policies. He accomplished a great deal with his energetic "door knocking" and campaigning.

Dad was also a member of the Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club where his natural talent earned him many awards.

He was a very kind, thoughtful man with a wonderful sense of humour and a keen wit. His intelligence and knowledge were appreciated by all who had the good fortune to meet him. Dad was very gracious and met all the challenges of his life with such great dignity. He was admired by many people yet he was humble about his accomplishments.

He was a proud independent man and so supportive to all his friends and family. When you had a problem, you knew Bud was the man to go to - he would be there for you and give you excellent advice and a comforting hug.

Dad's love for his family will be felt forever; we know that he is with us always. His many friends are deeply saddened by their loss. Dad loved life and lived it with joy and energy. He travelled to many parts of the world while in the forces and after his retirement from his second career of fishing.

I wish I could list all who loved him and will miss him - his

many relatives and friends - but you all know who you are and that Dad returned your love and respect.

Dad spent the last two months of his life with daughter Cindy and her family at her home in Campbell River, BC. His sense of humour and his spirit never waned; we spent many quality hours together and every moment will be treasured forever. Dad never gave in to his illness - in these special last months he enjoyed many moments with us: marathon Monopoly games with Alex; a Beatles Rock Band concert with Cindy, Melissa, Sarah and Emma; many spirited conversations with Samantha and Steve and Melissa and Fadi; Trivial Pursuit with Cindy and Tami; Outburst with Cindy, Melissa and Emma; Christmas with Melinda and the family; countless visits with Tami; and many wonderful visits with his friends and phone conversations with his family. He made us laugh; he taught us about our family history of which he was so proud; he imparted his wisdom and let us know how very proud he was of all of us.

Dad left this world as he lived it - with grace, dignity and peace. All of us who knew Bud are left with a deep sense of loss but also such gratitude that he was a part of our lives.

Bud Morgan was a truly remarkable individual - he left us all better people for having known him.

Dad - as I told you countless times throughout my life - I am so very blessed to have you as my dad and I will miss you forever. And you know how your grandchildren feel about you - such a special grandpa - from dressing Barbies and having scrunchies in your hair from your grand daughters to playing hockey and basketball with your grandsons - and peek-a-boo with your great granddaughter!

I know you're saying "Okay, Cindy, enough - go get some rest" and also that you are "delighted" watching us continue to live our lives with our memories of you making us laugh and be joyful.

Dad/Grandpa/Great Grandpa/Bud/Buddy - we all love you dearly and miss you deeply.

A celebration of life will be held for Bud on Friday, February 5th at 1pm at the Salvation Army Ocean Crest Church, 291 Mclean Street, Campbell River, BC. # 250 287 3720
