Doran, Stanley Alfred

May 19, 1921 - Jan 6, 2005

Stan leaves behind his loving family - the joy of his life; his wife Cornelia, three daughters: Diana (Doug), Donna (Mike), Sheila (Barry), 9 grandchildren: Shawn (Becky), Tammy (Kevin), Sarah (Joe), Joel, Kyle, Ashley, Candice (Matt), Stephanie & Danielle. Also, his brother & best friend George & Hilda. As well, 6 greatgrandchildren and many nieces & nephews, and many close friends. Stan was predeceased by his son Jim in 1993, and by his sisters Sophia & Zoie. Stan was born & raised in Nanaimo. He was an ‘island boy’ through & through. He served in the Canadian Army during WWll overseas where he met his bride, Cornelia in the Netherlands. They settled in Victoria where they raised their family. Stan worked in construction and Public Works Canada until he retired in 1981 when they moved to the Comox Valley.

Stan enjoyed every aspect of the outdoors. His passion was hiking and his escape from daily cares of life was at Anderson Lake where he enjoyed trout fishing. Stan was an active member of ‘Friends of Strathcona’. Along with George they volunteered much time and effort in trail maintenance, and they were honored to have Doran Falls by Bedwell Lake in Strathcona Park named after them. Friends and family are invited to join us on Wednesday, January 12 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1581 Dingwall Courtenay. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: ‘Friends of Strathcona, Box 3404, Courtenay, BC V9N 5N5.
