BROWN, Troy Alexander

June 7, 1967 ~ July 8, 2010


Troy passed away peacefully at his home, Thursday July 8th after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer.


There was a celebration of life for Troy, Weds. July 14th, 2010 at the Brown Family in Portland Ore.


Troy was born June 7th, 1967 in Campbell River, BC to Sandra Clifford and Garry Brown and raised in Comox, BC. Troy was a graduate of British Columbia Institute of Technology, met his wife Kristin E. Devito, in the Spring of 1992 in Port Alberni, BC. They married and had three children before moving to Portland, Oregon in 2000.


Troy spent the following 10 years in Portland, Oregon raising his family, working as an Information Technology Consultant for many large local corporations, including Conway, Nike, and Standard Insurance, and pursuing his lifelong passion in soccer, both as a player and coach. As a celebrated soccer coach and mentor, Troy coached many boys and girls teams, including the Kryptonite boys team for three years. His most recent team was the Mercury U13 girls team who went on to win the Oregon State Championship in the 2010 season.


While throughout his life sports such as soccer, hockey, and lacrosse have been mainstay passions: Troy also thoroughly enjoyed canoeing, camping, hiking and most recently pursued an interest in photography.


Troy is survived by his parents, Sandra Clifford (Earl) and Garry Brown of Comox, BC; wife Kristin; son Ryan, 16; and daughters Carmen 12 and Jennifer, 10. Troy also has a brother Richard (Nina) and sister Robin (Michael) and numerous nieces and nephews who all reside in BC.


Troy has countless friends and family in the community, workplace, and soccer clubs who will remember him as a dedicated husband and father with a vibrant personality, boundless energy, and a willingness to unselfishly give of himself to others.


Troy will be loved and missed by all those who knew him, and whose lives he touched, and paths he crossed.


A trust fund has been created in honour of Troy's children.
