DAVIS

Wade Douglas

1946 – 2009

Wade Douglas Davis passed away on August 25, 2009 at Courtenay, BC.

Wade was well loved by family and friends. He was born on April 23, 1946 in Hamilton, Ontario, where he experienced a rather adventurous boyhood. As a young teen, he was a natural at mechanics and joined the army where he refined his skill. He married Linda soon after and in 1972 they had a daughter, Pam, who was the apple of his eye. He served in the military from the mid 60’s until 1981. He served in Shilo, Manitoba, Edmonton, Comox, Egypt and Calgary. During his time in Comox, he was an instructor for the Air Cadets and was an active member of the Lions Club. After his military career he moved to Spruce Grove, Alberta and for the next four years he worked for General Iron & Scrap. In 1985, he moved to Royston where he was able to realize his lifelong dream of owning his own service station. Over the past 25 years, he made many friends in the Valley, meeting people as the owner of Davis Precision service station in Royston. He also started the first limousine company in the Valley, Comox Valley Limousine, in which he took delight in giving people the golden treatment.

Wade enjoyed helping out in the community, whether it was being a member of the Water Board in Royston, working with the Native Sons Hall in Courtenay, snowplowing neighboring driveways during our occasional storms, or in teaching different ones how to “fix things”. He was the proud Grandpa to grandsons, Knox and Knoll, whom he adored and with whom he loved spending time, spoiling them with attention, toys and candy. Family members remember him affectionately as always being there, in times of joy, need and crisis. Wade touched many lives.

Wade was predeceased by his father, Orpeth (Dave) Hubert Davis and his mother, Gloria Ellen Graham.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Lynn Bush; son-in-law, Mike Bush and grandsons: Knox Jonathan Bush and Knoll Cameron Bush all of Victoria; siblings: Bruce, Sandy, Ricky, Dave, Cindy, Kim and Connie; step-mother, Anna and devoted dog, Harley.

A Celebration of Wade’s life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Piercy’s – Mt. Washington Funeral Home, 440 England Avenue, Courtenay, BC. Donations to the SPCA would be appreciated.
