February 4, 1935 – April 30, 2017

It is with heavy hearts….. Wanda Vix of Royston passed away peacefully with her family at her side at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the age of 82.

She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Lyle, her mother and father, Olga and Ertmann Wagner, along with siblings Helen, Elsie, Olga and Ed.

Left to mourn are her daughters Brenda (Keith) Nicholls and Barb Vix (Bill) and grandsons Steven, Curtis, Dalton and Cale. If you’ve ever spent much time visiting with Wanda you know of many fond memories of those boys and how much her family meant to her. She is survived by her sisters Tracy, Shirley and Emmy, plus too many nieces and nephews to mention, but each loved very much.

Wanda was born in Eatonia, SK and moved to the big city of Vancouver, BC, in 1952 where she met, fell in love with, and married Lyle. Together they created a life that would in later years consist of two girls that their world revolved around. In 1973, the family moved to Royston and literally “raised the roof” by making the perfect home for themselves, along with welcoming many family and friends over the years.

After 20+ years running the office of Franklin Electric she joined Lyle in retirement and enjoyed many RV adventures travelling across Canada and the USA with dear friends, Bernie and Hilda. To fill the void that Lyle’s passing in 2003 created, she became a member of the St. Joseph’s Ladies Auxiliary in their Cottage Thrift Store. Anyone who has purchased notions (her pride and joy of a department!) has touched packages lovingly prepared by her or visited the Cottage on Friday morning, no doubt had a good chat and a few giggles. Yet another family was formed for her with the wonderful volunteers there and she kept that schedule for 14 years right up until she became ill.

Wanda’s daughters would like to express their deepest gratitude towards Ray and Cindy for the love and care they showed Wanda over the past few years.

A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held at the Royston Community Hall on June 10th, 2017, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family askes that a contribution in her name be made to the St. Joseph’s Ladies Auxiliary.
