FISHER

William James

July 1, 2008

William James Fisher of 2510 Copperfield Rd., Courtenay, BC passed away on July 1, 2008 at the age of 67. He will be sadly missed by his wife Kathleen (Kay), his sons Norman and Michael, his daughter-in-law Teresa, his grandchildren Colin and Anita of Comox, BC, his brother George and sister-in-law Maggie of Courtenay, BC. Bill also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, niece and nephews from the mainland and Vancouver Island.

Bill was predeceased by his sister Millie Wainright, his brother Robert and his brother-in-law John Barnes.

Bill served as a shipwright in the Navy for 28 years and retired in 1985. He spent most of his career in the Victoria area with short stays in Montreal and Halifax. He was the Constructor Officer responsible for the construction of the Search and Rescue (SAR) boats, Black Duck and Albatross, based at CFB Comox. He retired and became the production manager at Canoe Cove Manufacturing for three years before retiring permanently. He spent 15 years in Saltair, BC before moving to the Comox Valley to be closer to his family where he designed and had his dream home built. Sadly, he only lived in his dream home for two years. His new home is filled with his special talents so he will always be remembered.

Bill's life was filled with many wonderful friends all across the country. Bill's hobbies included model ship building, woodworking, reading, painting, lawn bowling and gardening.

No service by his request. His family and friends will be holding a gathering to remember and send Bill on his journey at a later date.
