Bill passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox on November 16, 2008 at the age of 84. Born in Denmark August 14, 1924, he came to Canada at the age of i3, where he grew up in Saskatchewan and Alberta until moving to Vancouver Island with his brother Kaj to pursue a career in carpentry. Arriving in the Comox Valley in the early 1950's Bill spent his life in the building trade and was superintendent on the construction of Comox Mall, Vanier School and the Comox Hospital expansion. He retired from work as building inspector for the Town of Comox. Much of his life was spent as an active member of AA. He was proud to have passed his 34th year of sobriety and in that time he touched many people's lives. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.

He will be sadly missed by his children Judy (Dale), Bill, Rob and Rick (Sherry); grandchildren Jolean (David), Brent (Kim), Darrin, Braedon, Eilidh, and Mariah; great-grandchildren Madison and Brenden.

He is predeceased by his first wife Alice (Lessard), second wife Wynne (Tait), and long time friend Mary (Coello). He is survived by his partner Fern Jones, his sister-in-law Rose Rasmussen, nephew Christian and nieces Linda and Marilou.

A Celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008, 11:00 am at the Lower Native Son's Hall, 360 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
