JOHNSTONE, William Wear
Johnstone, William Wear, born in England on February 24, 1908, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital Extended Care on February 24, 2010, aged 102 years. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 73 years; 1 son Billy; 2 daughters, Edith (Ross) Harper & Ruth Johnstone; 7 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and 1 brother Ken (Irma) Johnstone. Bill was predeceased by 1 grandson, Stewart. Bill worked in the Cumberland Coal Mines from 1937 to 1973. His autobiography was published in 1993 “Coal Dust in My Blood.” Bill was also involved in many volunteer activities in the Cumberland community. As per Bill’s request, there will no service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
