Community will notice Coup’s retirement

Dear editor,

On behalf of community sport organizers and school administrators, athletic coaches, athletes, parents and the general public,  best wishes to The Comox Valley Record’s longtime sports editor Earle Couper on his well-earned retirement. To say Earle served our community well in his capacity as sports editor is an understatement. It is not enough to say Earle was always available to promote and report the athletic ongoings of our community.  As well,  Earle had the gift of creating a story within his articles that was compelling and connected all of us within the Comox Valley to appreciate the accomplishments and challenges of our athletes and coaches.  Storytellers throughout time bring us all closer together. Coup had that gift of storytelling that went beyond just reporting the stats of the games and final scores.   Indeed, we in the Comox Valley have been fortunate to have had Coup in our Valley for so long.  Best wishes Coup from all of us and thanks.  You were appreciated by many!
