Happy's win playoff opener at Roy Hobbs World Series

Happy's Islanders finally got to play at JetBlue Park on Friday.

It was on field #6, not the stadium replica of Fenway Park, but that didn't seem to bother the Islanders as they opened their AA Legends (55-plus) division playoffs with an 11-7 win over ES3 Stoneage.

Happy's had little time to celebrate their Friday morning win as they had all of 30 minutes to prepare to meet the Kennebec Cubs in their second game of the day at 1:45 p.m.

"Beautiful day, beautiful fields," reported Kevin Dobbelsteyn of the Islanders, who had been scheduled to play at JetBlue Park (the stadium) on Wednesday only to have their first rainout in five years of attending the Roy Hobbs World Series in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Islanders, comprised of players from the Komoux Masters Real Baseball League and several pick-ups from across Canada, went 2-2 in pool play. In a seeding game on Thursday they lost 14-10 to the Tidewater Drillers.

Twelve teams qualified for the AA playoffs. If the Islanders beat the Cubs they would advance to the semifinals on Saturday where they would play at 10 a.m. The AA final goes at 2 p.m. Saturday.
