The Mark Isfeld Ice senior girls volleyball team is hitting the road this weekend, having earned a spot at the Island championships after some intense play at the North Island championships in Campbell River this past Friday and Saturday.

The Courtenay crew had to face two tough opponents off the mark on Friday and managed to snag one game off  Carihi before succumbing in the third and final game of that set. They found their game against Frances Kelsey and took two games straight to close out the first round of action Friday, placing third in their pool.

Saturday saw some great volleyball with the whole team really putting on a great display of volleyball against host Timberline.  After two very intense games, Isfeld had to settle for the loss.  They faced Wellington Secondary from Nanaimo in their final match of the tournament, going to three games before securing the final qualifying spot for the Island championships.

Consistant serving from Keziah Magor, Thana Fayad along with some great tips and sets by Shelby Jeeves helped the team in their final match.

Some well-placed hits from Shimen Fayad  along with great team support from Sam Regehr, Jessica McLean, Hayley Teunissen and international student Adriana Rosendo in several of the games over the weekend kept the team alive under pressure.

Coach Jahmil Fayad will be looking for the team to continue building on their performances at the Island tournament and play well against in Sidney.
