Comox Valley Glacier Kings' goaltender Michael Hails has been named by the

Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League as Kirby’s Source for Sports Player of the Week.

Hails was the star of last weekend’s series with the Nanaimo Buccaneers, recording a 1.00 GAA and a .963 save percentage over the two games. Hails is ranked the number one goalie in the North Island Division of the VIJHL.

“We acquired Hails for this reason," said Glacier Kings' head coach Bill Rotheisler. "He needed a little time to get back in game form from a previous injury, but we know he is one of the best.  This weekend helped solidify what most of this province already knew.  Our goal is to be a tough team to play against, and he is the backbone of that."

Hails joins Garrett Halls, Mitch Ball, Jack Kennelly and Rylan Ball as previous winners this season of the league-wide award.

The Glacier Kings next home game is Saturday night, when they’ll host the Saanich Braves. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at Comox Valley Sports Centre Arena #1.
