The Comox Valley Mazda Chiefs played two PeeWee A minor hockey exhibition games this past weekend, resulting in a win and a loss.

The Chiefs played their North Island rivals in Campbell River on Saturday, losing 8-6. The Chiefs and Tyees exchanged goals all game with neither team leading by two goals.

On Sunday the Chiefs played a very strong first half against Kerry Park, leading 3-1 at the ice clean. In the second half the Chiefs had a string of penalties resulting in a few 5-on-3 opportunities for the Islanders. Fortunately, a strong penalty kill enabled the Chiefs to hold on to a 5-4 win.

The Chiefs are now preparing for the playoffs which start Feb. 2 when they host Victoria Racquet Club at 12:15 p.m., Sports Centre #1 on Vanier Drive.
