Glacier Kings' Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday

This Saturday night (Feb. 16) the Comox Valley Glacier Kings will host Fan Appreciation Night.  It’s the last regular season home game, and the Kings are hosting the Nanaimo Buccaneers.

There will be prizes, on-ice activities and the team will be available for autographs post game.

On Monday, Feb. 18, two Glacier Kings will perform an acoustic show at Yiamas.

Defenceman Patrick Croome and Brook Trainor, a forward, will perform a variety of acoustic songs ranging from Blue Rodeo, to Mumford and Sons, the Beatles and even Canadian music icon Neil Young.

Croome has been performing music from an early age. “I have been on stage doing venues all over Calgary with my dad and my uncle since I was three years old, believe it or not," he said.

"I've been singing for as long as I can remember. It was a big part of my family and childhood. My parents put me in piano lessons at five years old and I took lessons under Royal Conservatory for 10 years, making it to Grade 7. In Grade 6 I managed to teach myself the

guitar from a chart I got for Christmas showing me finger positions.

"The motivation for learning the guitar was a project that I had to do on a famous person for English class. I picked Elvis Presley and for bonus points, sang and played my first song on the guitar in public, Love Me Tender.”

Yiamas will have a menu prepared for the event.  There is no cover charge.
