The Comox Valley Raiders Bantam team improved to 5-0 with a hard fought 38-24 win against the Nanaimo Redmen on the weekend.

On a day when all four levels of the Raiders organization were in action at Bill Moore field, the peewees and bantams came away with a win. The junior bantams played an exciting 0-0 tie and the midgets put together their best effort of the season against one of the best teams in the league.

The bantam game presented a physical match-up as the Redmen play a ground and pound style with hard hitting running backs and linebackers. For the Raiders, the defence was led by a fierce trio of Michael Charalambidis, Brodie Lawrie and Carter Crisp applying pressure in the backfield while Dylan Lepard and Jayce Osaduik patrolled the backend helping keep the Redmen from completing any big plays. On offence, Grayson Atherton, Drew Wootton and Tomas Foge each contributed two touchdowns.

Team amassed more than 400 yards on the day due in no small part to the efforts of Cale Hart and Mark Biollo leading another impressive performance by the offensive line.

The bantams look to keep their perfect season rolling in Victoria where they play the Spartans in their next game.
