The Comox Valley Kickers Rugby Club encourages any interested child or youth to attend a junior recruitment camp/club days at Lewis Park Saturday, Aug. 12. The free day will include mini and junior clinics, lunch, all ages touch, and the Rookie Rugby Instructor Course.

Sunday has a $15 registration fee and will offer more junior skills and a coaches clinic. The club looks forward to sharing the day with recent Rugby Canada alumni Mandy Marchak as a guest coach, and with its sister club from the Campbell River Athletics Association and the athletes it supports.

Kids have been learning to play rugby in the Comox Valley with the Kickers since 2010, and have participated in many jamborees up and down the island. Many of the minis (U12) move on to junior programs and regional representative rugby.

Camaraderie is key in rugby, and there is room for everyone to play. Comox Valley Kickers mini and junior rugby programs will start at the beginning of September.

The Kickers thank long-time die hard supporter Nicole Deters of Investors Group for helping to grow the sport, and for providing opportunities for the kids of the Valley.
