Though ranked number eight heading into the BC Super Series, the Comox Valley Strikers U16 girls volleyball team finished third at the tournament, held at the Harry Jerome Sports Centre in Burnaby.

The two-day event consisted of club volleyball teams from around B.C.

On Day 1, the Strikers went undefeated against the fifth-, sixth- and seventh-ranked teams. Their consistent, strong play earned them a place in the Tier 1 playoffs.

On Day 2, the Strikers took out the second-ranked Focus Storm, then lost their only match of the weekend to Air Attack from the Lower Mainland.

The one loss bumped the Strikers into the bronze medal game where the girls outplayed the Iron Maidens Hurricane from Victoria 25-15, 14-25 and 15-6 to take third overall.

The Strikers will compete in the Island championships at Vancouver Island University at the end of April, followed by the provincial championships May 6-7 in Abbotsford.
