Develop new soccer skills at an upcoming camp hosted by the Comox Valley United Soccer Club.

This is the second annual summer camp put on by the Division 1 men’s team of CVUSC. The coaches are comprised primarily of the Div. 1 team with support from the Div. 3 men’s and women’s teams.

The program will be overseen by VP of Player Development Stefan Szkwarek.

“This is a key activity in our club’s Player Development Strategy, and is also a key community outreach activity,” Szkwarek said.

Last year’s camp garnered plenty of positive feedback from kids and parents.

The camp is open to U-7 to U-15 boys and girls. The cost is $250 per child, which includes a camp soccer jersey and four “day” swimming passes.

The camp runs July 17 to 21 at the Queneesh Elementary fields from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The days will be comprised of soccer drills/games, non-soccer games (Capture the Flag, relays, water fights) and community demonstrations from local first responders including SAR Tech, fire department and more.

On Monday to Thursday, the kids will finish off the day at the swimming pool.

The highlight of the camp comes on the last day with a “mini world cup” tournament, followed by a barbecue with all the kids and parents.
