Goodyear wins pair of gold medals

It was an exciting and hot weekend for six AAA swimmers of the Comox Valley Sharks who competed in the third and final championship meet of the season July 6-9 in Kamloops.

It was an exciting and hot weekend for six AAA swimmers of the Comox Valley Sharks who competed in the third and final championship meet of the season July 6-9 in Kamloops.

They came home with five new club relay records: Laine Perry, 11, Grace Revenberg, 12, Nadia Macluskie, 11, and Savanna Hall, 11, placed fourth in the 11 and 12 girls 200 free relay, fifth in the 200 medley relay, and sixth in the 400 medley relay. Ava, 11, and Grace Revenberg, and Tessa and Iris Tinmouth, 13, claimed the 13/14 girls 200 free relay and 400 medley relay.

Ian Goodyear, 17, won gold in 100 back and 400 free, silver in 100 free, 50 free, 200 IM and 100 fly, and bronze in 100 breast. Iris was fourth in 200 fly, 11th in 800 free, 13th in 400 IM, and 14th in 400 free. Laine was sixth in 50 back, 12th in 800 free, and 15th in 400 free. Savanna had nearly all best times, placing 11th in 800 free and 400 free, 14th in 100 free, and 16th in 200 free and 50 free. Nadia, in her first trip to AAA championships, was 11th in 50 fly, 15th in 200 fly, and 16th in 100 fly. Tate Priebe, 16, placed 14th in 50 back.
