Masters hockey players raise money for Jumpstart

The world of athletics brings people from all walks of life together to share a common passion. Once a sport is learned, it becomes a life-long pursuit, bringing with it a healthy lifestyle, friends and camaraderie. Some young athletes among us may be left out of this valuable track of life by simply not having the funds available to access their sport of choice. Fortunately, Canadian Tire sponsors Jumpstart, a program that provides funds for young Comox Valley athletes.

With this goal in mind, members of the Comox Valley 55+ Hockey program banded together for an afternoon of golf and good times to raise money and awareness for the many young athletes in our Valley that need a helping hand to practice their sport and reap the benefits that these old guys clearly have in their lifetimes.

With the support of many local businesses and individuals, the aging skaters managed to raise $1,800 for Jumpstart. The money will help many young aspiring athletes reach their sporting goals.
