The Comox Bay Sailing Team attended the Kitten Cup Regatta in Vancouver with entrants in the Optimist and 420 fleets.

On the first day with blustery winds, a large portion of the Optimist Fleet stayed on shore out of the wind and rain, but not Jack Griffith and Rachel Anderson. These two Opti sailors braved the elements and competed in a strong Optimist fleet of 43 championship fleet registrants.

Meanwhile, Will Howard and Owen Cruickshank, competing on the separate 420 course, had a perfect day with first-place results, in spite of it being their first regatta in the 420 Class, and in spite of not having rigged a spinnaker. They knew their toughest contestants would come out on Sunday, and would have spinnakers, so regatta results were still up in the air.

Sunday on the Optimist course, the fleet was out in force, and Jack and Rachel had a strong day with Rachel near the front of the pack in the final race. On the 420 course, Will and Owen had a tough first race and then rallied with progressively better results until they won the last race outright, despite having less sail area on the downwind.

Congratulations are in order for all team members who competed, with special recognition for Owen and Will.
