Year of significant change at Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce

The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce transitioned from a Visitor Information Centre to focusing on serving the business community in 2012.

2012 will go down in the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce's history as a year of significant change as it transitioned from a Visitor Information Centre/Chamber to focusing solely on serving the business community.

At the end of March the chamber said goodbye to several long-time Visitor Information employees, as well as another employee who moved from the Valley. Around that same time, it welcomed Connie as its new accounting administrator and Terri as the new marketing and communications co-ordinator. Laura's duties as office co-ordinator and administrative support continued to expand and evolve.

A new team of four worked hard to live up to a new motto of Taking Care of Business. New signage was installed on the building in the fall and renovations to the reception area and offices are underway. In early 2013, we look forward to hosting an Open House for Chamber members and the community.

In October, the Chamber held its inaugural Top 40 Under 40 Awards with much success and, just last week, it published a YouTube video promoting a fun Shop Local message.

It is working on its Annual Community Awards to be held Jan. 26. The theme for this year's event is A Royal Affair. Submit nominations as soon as possible as the Chamber offices will be closed Dec. 22 — Jan. 1. Nominees need to have time to complete nomination packages.

On behalf of the staff and board of directors, we wish you all a safe and happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
