The 2018 Comox Valley Conservation calendars are now available for sale at retail locations in Courtenay, Cumberland and Comox.
The calendar showcases some of the Valley’s most iconic natural areas and beautiful wildlife photographs. Each month profiles one of the Valley’s stewardship groups working to protect and restore our watersheds and natural areas.
“The calendar is published annually by the Comox Valley Land Trust to support the activities of Comox Valley Conservation Partnership (CVCP) program,” said CVLT executive director Tim Ennis. “The funds raised by calendar sales helps the program to carry out education and advocacy work on conservation issues such as the protection and restoration of the Comox Lake watershed and the last remaining sensitive ecosystems in the region.”
Publication and distribution of the calendar is a real community effort. Photos are contributed by members of the Comox Valley Camera Club and other local photographers. 12 local businesses support the publishing and printing costs including significant contributions from Sure Copy and the local RBC branches. Volunteers, community groups and several local retail businesses participate by selling calendars.
“Our customers in the Valley love these beautiful nature calendars. Last year we were able to raise $680 from calendar sales for the Land Trust,” says Adam Fraser assistant manager at London Drugs.
Calendars are available in Courtenay, at Art Knapp’s Plantland, Canadian Tire, Comox Valley Art Gallery, Edible Island Foods, Laughing Oyster Bookstore, London Drugs, RBC Ryan Rd branch, Shoppers Drug Mart, SURE Copies, Thrifty Foods, and the Conservation Centre office at 2356a Rosewall Crescent. In Comox at Blue Heron Books, Independent Grocer, Shoppers Drug Mart and at Mid Island Gifts at the Comox Airport. In Cumberland at Seeds Market. They retail for $15 each.
