95-year-old Comox Valley resident celebrates birthday with a swim and pizza party

No slowing down for Patricia Cottingham

Birthday girl Patricia Cottingham celebrated her 95th in style. Wearing her new swimsuit, she was cheered as she entered the pool at the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre. Fellow patrons stopped what they were doing to rousingly sing “Happy Birthday,” joined by the lifeguards and staff. After the pool, she was treated to a scrumptious lunch at Boston Pizza, where she enjoyed time with friends for a few hours and everyone enjoyed chocolate birthday cake. Patricia is a long-time resident of the Comox Valley and loved teaching here. After her retirement, Patricia dedicated her life to volunteering with seniors. If her name sounds familiar, it’s possibly because the terminal at the airport is named after the family, Cyril Cottingham Terminal.
