The Comox Valley Glacier Grannies invite you to their seventh African Dinner and Silent Auction, to take place on Sunday, April 7 at the Florence Filberg Centre, (upper level).

Tria Fine Catering will provide a three-course gourmet meal, and the entertainment will include a speaker, and a reprise of our flash mob dance. We are gathering an impressive collection of goods and services for our silent auction.

All proceeds from the evening will go to the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. The Campaign supports the grandmothers of Sub-Saharan Africa who, having nursed their own children as they succumbed to the HIV and AIDS pandemic, are now raising their grandchildren. These heroic, resilient women have become important members of their communities. As well as providing for the children in their care, they have become human rights advocates for themselves and their families.

The doors at the Florence Filberg Centre will open at 5 p.m. and there will be a cash bar. Tickets are available at Blue Heron Books and Laughing Oyster Book Shop (both cash only), or by calling Jane at 250-792-5993. The cost is $50, $60 after March 22.

The Glacier Grannies’ African Dinner is a wonderful opportunity for a group of friends to enjoy great food and entertainment and each other’s company. We look forward to seeing you there.
