Applebee’s supports Tour de Rock.

Applebee’s Neighbourhood Grill and Bar in Courtenay will hold a fundraiser on Canada Day for the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock.

Some of the Valley’s finest musicians will perform in open-mic style, from 4 to 9 p.m., including acclaimed musician and singer songwriting couple Bruce and Judy Wing.

“After a busy day of activities on Canada Day, families might like the opportunity to let us do the cooking. They can relax and enjoy good food and music while helping out a great cause,” says Julie Huff, director of marketing for Applebee’s.

Tour de Rock riders have a scheduled appearance, and two “junior rider” families will also be there. Junior riders are children who have fought, or are currently fighting, cancer. They have been teamed up with one of the police officers taking part in the Tour this year.

Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock is a Canadian Cancer Society community-driven campaign that enables people living on Vancouver Island to raise funds for pediatric cancer research and provide support to children and families living with cancer.
