Axé Capoeira North Island is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the Comox Valley from March 15-17.

This International Batizado and Brazilian Festival includes shows and a dance party open to public.

Three days of intensive workshops from leading capoeiristas from around the world will cumulate in a theatrical spectacle presented at the École Au coeur de l’île theatre at noon, Sunday, March 17, and a dance party at K’omox First Nation Community Hall, March 16, 7 p.m.

Workshops will be presented by special guests coming from all over Canada, the US, and as far as China and, of course, Brazil.

The École Au coeur de l’île show is an Afro-Brazilian celebration with performers sharing traditional dances, Brazilian drum rhythms, the beautiful and complex music of northern Brazil, and the magical acrobatic art of capoeira. The event promises to be a high-energy taste of Brazil that should not be missed! Tickets are $10 each. Kids 12 and under get in for free.
