BC Liberal Party leader Andrew Wilkinson was in Courtenay Tuesday, helping local candidate Brennan Day with his campaign.
The pair was downtown during the lunch-hour discussing issues with supporters and greeting passers-by.
Wilkinson gave a glowing testimonial of his Courtenay-Comox candidate.
“Brennan is an extraordinary candidate because he’s got that enthusiasm, and life experience having grown up in the Valley, that will make him representative of everybody’s hopes and dreams here in the Comox Valley. He’s a real find of a candidate. He’s got vitality, he’s got smarts, and he’s hard-wired into this community. He is dedicated to make this community the best it can be.”
Wilkinson recognizes the importance of the Courtenay-Comox riding. It was one of the most closely contested ridings in the 2017 election, with the NDP eventually winning the seat by only 189 votes.
“Comox-Courtenay is an incredibly important riding – it was the deciding riding in the last election,” said Wilkinson. “So we are putting everything we can into making Brennan the next MLA for [Courtenay-Como] and he has a very bright future with the BC Liberals.”
Day said it’s been a busy campaign so far, but he likes the reaction he’s received.
“Everybody is rallying around me,” he said. “I have a fantastic riding association. Everyone is working hard, making the phone calls, getting the job done. It’s going to be a tight race, we know that. We want to make sure we are accessible to everybody.”
