Buy socks, provide for homeless

Comox Valley Sock It To ‘Em Project sales days will be held at Zocalo.

Need a cosy Valentine gift for yourself or your sweetie?

Come to the Zocalo Café in Courtenay and look for the woman with the basket of colourful socks.

Comox Valley Sock It To ‘Em Project sales days will be held at Zocalo at the corner of Cliffe and Fifth between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 and 14.

Each pair of locally hand-knit socks purchased will provide up to 10 pairs of high-quality store-bought socks for someone who is homeless in our community.

The store-bought socks will be distributed to those in need by Community charity organizations including the Comox Bay Care Society’s Care-A-Van, Comox Valley’s volunteer mobile heath-care unit, the only service of its kind west of Calgary.

Come early. Try them on. All socks are machine-washable and nylon-reinforced, so they will wear well. They come in various adult sizes.

Find the Comox Valley Sock It To ‘Em Project on Facebook or e-mail project organizer Roberta DeDoming at annaplace@uniserve.com.
