Camp Boomer – a new fundraising event for Boomer’s Legacy - will take place on Saturday, June 16 at Glacier Gardens Arena at 19 Wing Comox. Centered upon a military camp theme, participants will walk, run or cycle two designated routes over the course of six hours.

With the support of local military units, cadets, and veterans’ groups, this event promises to be a day of physical effort and remembrance of the fallen, as customary at Boomer’s Legacy events.

The aim is to raise funds that Canadian Armed Forces personnel can access to help with humanitarian efforts in the communities where they serve.

Boomer’s Legacy

Boomer’s Legacy is named after Corporal Andrew “Boomer” Eykelenboom, a dedicated soldier and a Canadian Forces medic who was killed by a suicide bomber on August 11, 2006. Boomer was committed to saving lives and helping the Afghan people; his death was the catalyst to creating this charity to help men and women in uniform make a positive difference in the lives of others.

His humanitarian spirit lives on through Boomer’s Legacy – a program of Support Our Troops that is committed to “Helping our Soldiers Help Others at Home and Abroad.” Funds raised to date have been used for basic humanitarian needs, medical care, and education.
