One hundred per cent of the funds donated to the Comox Bay Care Society remain in the Comox Valley to support individuals who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness through the programs offered by the Care-A-Van.
The mobile health-care clinic can be seen on the streets delivering free health-care services, providing a monthly dental day, weekly optometry exams and ongoing donations of clothing to those who are in need.
Over 800 individuals from ages three to 86 have been helped aboard this clinic.
In total, 34 volunteers — nurses, physicians, dentists, optometrist, pharmacists and drivers — contribute to this worthy cause by donating two shifts per month of their expertise.
This week the Care-A-Van donated with Canadian Tire's help, much needed oil heaters to some of the residents of Maple Pool campground, one of the van’s weekly stops.
The Care-A-Van works closely with Jin and Dali Lin, owners of Maple Pool Campsite, to ensure all residents who need care are seen by the Care-A-Van. In the weeks to come, tarps will be donated by Canadian Tire to safeguard their trailers in our rainy weather.
