Firefighter Steve McNamee’s wife, Gen, is midway through a long cancer treatment journey. She will be heading down to Victoria for radiation therapy early this fall. The goal of our fundraiser is to help with the $2,500 accommodation expenses during her six-week stay in Victoria.

This comes after another member of our department, Kevin Appleyard, went through the same ordeal with his wife Silvie last year, and we were blown away with the amount of support that the community gave to their family in their time of need. We are happy to report that Silvie has fought her battle courageously and on the road to recovery.

The community is invited down to the Courtenay Fire Hall to get their car washed by the members of the Courtenay Volunteer Fire Department with a donation to the McNamee Family.
