Commemorative signs installed on Veterans Memorial Parkway in Courtenay

The City of Courtenay has installed a pair of new commemorative signs at Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The signs include illustrated poppies on each bottom corner, and the words, ’Lest We Forget.’

Mayor Bob Wells, Comox Valley RCMP Insp. Mike Kurvers and members of the Courtenay Legion unveiled one of the signs Thursday near Art Knapp.

The other sign is located across from Valley View Estates near Mission Road.

“Especially this year, we want to take every opportunity that we can to make sure that we are recognizing those that have served in the forces, whether that be police forces, military, etc.” Wells said. “We want to be sure they’re being recognized this time of year.”
