The Comox Valley Concert Band returns to the stage Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. with a toe-tappin’, foot-stompin’ shindig of dance tunes. The Evergreen Club at the Filberg Centre is sponsoring this popular community event.

Under the direction of dance master Denise Marquette, the 50-piece wind ensemble promises an eclectic survey of musical compositions that span the dance floor of time.

You and your partner will want to “Dance all night,” “Jitterbug” until the cows come home and “Charleston” until your knees shatter.

The band features works by Frank Ticheli (“Cajun Folk Songs II: No. 2, Country Dance”), Rogers and Hammerstein (“Shall we Dance”), Lerner and Lowe (“I Could Have Danced All Night”), along with some ’70s nostalgia from ABBA. Could it be “Dancing Queen?”

As well, the band anticipates the coming festive season with some winter classics that include “Charlie Brown’s Christmas” and “Greensleeves.”

In spite of protocols, it’s still a good time to dance – in one’s seat of course – and move the legs to the beat of the tango, the waltz, the foxtrot and the lindy hop.

Join the Evergreen Club at the Filberg Centre in Courtenay for an afternoon of dance tunes for the whole family. Tickets are $10 in advance at the Florence Filberg Centre or at the door – children under 12 are free. Proof of Vaccination and masks required.
