The craft fair will be a fundraiser for Palestinian refugees.

An art-centered winter fundraiser featuring local vendors, community art tables, music and more is scheduled for Dec. 7 at 2674 Dunsmuir Avenue in Cumberland.

The event will be raising funds for refugees from Gaza, and donated directly to the Meera Centre. The centre is an art therapy centre in Cairo, Egypt for refugees of the war in Gaza, many of whom are children.

Comox Valley resident, Bernadette Keenan, who is currently living in Cairo has volunteered at the centre, and said that “I had the privilege of volunteering there recently and it was both heartbreaking and inspiring. The resilience of these little humans is astonishing.”

The event is organized by Comox Valley for Palestine.

"We welcome you to gather with us as a community, celebrate art as love as resistance and show the displaced children of Gaza that we have not forgotten them," a release from the group says.

The event will be open from 12 until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.
