Craig Keeping (centre) presented a cheque to Diana Paige and Kevin Flesher of the Cumberland Culture and Arts Society (CCAS). The Cumberland Culture and Arts Society was founded in 2003 to create opportunities for community education and growth in the visual and performing arts. CCAS supports and puts on numerous events throughout the year, including the Woodstove Festival, Life Drawing sessions, and recently they hosted a Galactic Roller Disco event that was a great success. Thanks Diana, Kevin, and CCAS Team for all you do!
(From left) Patricia Foster, Christine Dickinson and Margo McLoughlin of McLoughlin Gardens Society receive a cheque for $1,000 from Leslie Chasse, Branch Manager, Peninsula Co-op, for a new deck and stairs, for the seaside cotage. The cedar decking was a significant budget issue for the new society. Local carpenters will offer in- kind support for the labour and Green D Forest Products has been engaged to mill the lumber, thanks to the generosity of Peninsula Co-op. The McLoughlin Gardens are situated in the Brian and Sarah McLoughlin Regional Park on Tasman Road in Merville. The cottage and gardens host writers and artists-in-residence each summer.
