As the new year begins and many people are searching for ways to build new skills and make a positive impact in their communities, the Comox Valley St. John's Ambulance is hoping people will join them to make a difference.

St. John Ambulance in Comox Valley encourages everyone to align their resolutions with a commitment to learning life saving techniques and serving others by joining the Adult Brigade (for those 18 and older) or the Youth Cadet Program (for ages 10 to 18).

“St. John Ambulance volunteers embody the spirit of service, offering their skills and compassion to support health and safety at a moment’s notice,” said Tatyana Noyola, Acting Divisional Superintendent. “By volunteering with St. John Ambulance, members not only gain valuable medical knowledge and experience, but they also make a tangible difference in people’s lives during their times of greatest need.”

“In cities and towns worldwide, St. John Ambulance volunteers form a reliable network of care, stepping up in emergencies and providing essential first aid where it matters most. I believe that volunteering with St. John Ambulance is not just about learning first aid—it is about becoming part of a legacy of lifesaving and community service that stretches back over a century. St. John Ambulance volunteers are the unsung heroes who help ensure public safety, reminding us all of the power of compassion and the impact of readiness in times of crisis.

“Being a member in our community has been rewarding and life changing for myself. I have met many incredible people along the way.”

By becoming a volunteer with St. John Ambulance, individuals gain practical first aid skills, develop leadership and teamwork abilities, and experience the unique satisfaction of making communities safer.

"Whether you choose the Adult Brigade or the Youth Cadet Program, you will receive comprehensive training, empowering you to provide care at local events and support major incidents—all while fulfilling your goal of giving back in the new year," a release from St. John's Ambulance says.
