This fall, the Comox Valley Transit System will be introducing two new transit routes to provide regular and On Request service to rural areas.

Starting Sept. 5, routes 13 Seal Bay/Merville and 14 Union Bay will operate Tuesdays and Thursdays, offering three trips a day on each route. Transit users may board at a designated bus stop if available, or flag the bus down from a safe location—such as a driveway or postal box area—along the route.

In addition to regular service, both new routes will provide On Request pick-ups or drop-offs to aid passengers who may have difficulty catching the bus along the regular route. Pick-ups and drop-offs may deviate up to 1.5 km from the usual routes, and need to be booked 24 hours in advance.

These improvements are possible thanks to funding from the Comox Valley Regional District and the Province of B.C., and amount to a total of 900 new service hours added to the system.

To schedule a pick-up, customers are invited to call 250-339-5442. On Request service will be scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis, with priority given to passengers with mobility challenges.
