Do you, or a senior you know need help with dog care?

ElderDog Canada is a fully volunteer-run non-profit and registered charity that helps seniors and their dogs throughout the country, including right here in Comox Valley. For many older adults, especially those living alone, their canine companion is their best friend, primary source of support, and key to their health and well-being. ElderDog Canada understands the power of the senior-canine bond and is dedicated to supporting that relationship.

Volunteers provide regular help to seniors needing assistance with basic dog care activities such as walking, transportation to grooming or vet appointments, help with brushing or hygiene, or emergency fostering. ElderDog also helps seniors adopt an older canine companion, finds new homes for dogs who lose their human companion, and helps people plan for long-term care of their beloved dog.

Helping to keep love in the home is not only life-enhancing for the seniors and dogs ElderDog supports, volunteers describe their work as “a way of giving back to my community,” “a sheer joy,” and “the most rewarding volunteer work I have ever done.”
